Sarina is an 18 year old typical college freshman who, in 2010, wasn’t quite sure she would make it to college healthy. She began bouts of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) and was admitted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles monthly, undergoing a battery of tests and being switch from the care of Gastroenterology to Adolescent Medicine.
After many months, she finally landed in Medical Genetics under the care of Dr. Richard Boles. Within two months, she was no longer experiencing CVS.
Her official diagnosis of Mitochondrial Dysfunction pointed her towards the proper medical treatment and lifestyle choices that have allowed her to manage her symptoms affectively, and live the normal life of a college freshman.
